The Gift Chest was opened in September 2011 by co-owners Sandy Walker and Marla Valdez.  Sandy and Marla had worked together for over 19 years in this same location in The Gift Chest owned by Eleanor Kuyvenhoven.  When the store closed in January 2011, Sandy and Marla, decided to reopen the store with a focus on gifts, toys, books and more.  Serving the community of Wingham and beyond to provide "Gifts for every occasion."

Sandy retired at the end of 2018 and Marla took over full ownership of the store. Marla has enjoyed the retail experience in this location for over 33 years.
